Affects From Your Past

I believe that experiences that occur when you are young, do infact directly relate to you when you are older. Child molestation is a very good example of this. When a young child is molested by someone they trust of the opposite gender, later on in life that child may develop a fear of the opposite gender, or they may find it difficult to express affection to the opposite gender when they are older. As well as the person that was molested will always remember exactly what happened, even if it happened at a very young age.
When are molested, especially when you are young and naive, and it was done my someone you trust, they will tell you that it is a secret game that only you can play with them. The person that molested you will say this to manipulate you, because young children love secrets, and the child does not know any better. Most of the time it is done by someone that is close to you, someone you really look up to. It hurts you alot more in the end when you have been molested by someone you trust or look up to, but yet, most of the time the victim will still keep it a secret, or they will keep it a secret until they can't anymore. When the person that was molested knows it was wrong, they usually end up telling another adult.
I know just how hard it is to get over molestation all too well. For a very long time I couldn't trust any male, except for my step father, brother, and a few friend and other relatives that I knew I could trust. I did at one point try to date, but I always ended up ending the relationship because of my past experience. I was scared that the same that was going to happen to me again. When you are molested, it doesn't seem to matter who they are, all that really matters to you is that you hold hatred towards them, and that they took your innocence away from you when you were helpless. You end up feeling scared, even if nobody knows, you feel like no one wants to associate themselves with you, or everyone else can't really relate to you because they were never molested. I have mostly recovered, even though I do know that I am not going to be able to completely.
People say that you can't remember anything when you are two years old and younger. Unfortunately I was old enough to remember it, and I unfortunately remember it very well. The victim may not think of what happened at first, but when the victim does realize what happened it will haunt them for the rest of their life. With me, the only things I really remember from my childhood were what negatively affected me. The biggest thing that kept coming back into my memory was when I was molested at the age of 3! At first I didn't realize what happened, I was young, and only a child yet. People, however, do not trust that I remember everything as well as I do, or they think that it fabricated into a dream.
Things that happen in anyone's past affect how they behave, think, and sometimes how they feel towards others. I can tell you personally that from my past experiences, it affected me extremely! Counseling can help, but sometimes the counseling requires you to forget your past, forget your feelings of the past, but I don't think that anyone will really understand that when you are molested, it is extremely hard to forget the memory, and even harder to forget the emotional feelings. The whole experience shapes your life, and nothing can change it once it has been done. The experiences that happen in your past, affect your life forever...
